Feature Spotlight: Invoicing in Workgroups Portal

With the release of Package 155, invoicing can be done completely within Workgroups Portal, thus eliminating the need to invoice with the Job Manager desktop clients for Mac OS 9 or Windows. This wraps all invoicing and accounting integration functionality into one application. In addition, several new invoicing features have been implemented, including the ability to generate invoices directly from a job and a solution for printing multiple page invoices. Desktop client versions of Job Manager are no longer supported.

Q&A with Technical Support: Modifying SQL Reports

How can I modify existing SQL reports like those contained in the Multiple Page Printing solution?

SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services reports, like the reports in the Multiple Page Printing solution, provide a means of expanding the capabilities of the system. Naturally, Workgroups system administrators may wish to enhance the appearance or functionality of these pre-built reports. Knowledge Base article 16294 contains detailed instructions for locating and opening existing SQL Reports with the Visual Studio SQL Report Designer tool so that they may be modified.

Smart Tip of the Month: Multiple Page Printing Solution

Have you ever had an invoice that contained too many line items to be printed on one page? A new multiple page printing solution is available which allows the user to print invoices, jobs and estimates that span multiple pages. The solution uses the integration with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services and provides support for both multiple pages and multiple line descriptions.

Additional Resources: .NET Framework 2.0 Redistributable

The most recent version of the MetaCommunications Server Installer requires Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. (Workgroups Portal still requires .NET Framework 1.1.) You can determine whether .NET Framework 2.0 is installed by looking for "Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0" in the list of currently installed programs in the Add/Remove Programs Tool in Control Panel. If your system does not have .NET Framework 2.0 installed, Microsoft provides a redistributable package on their download page, where the 2.0 version can be downloaded. Once you install .NET Framework 2.0 from the redistributable file, it is advised that you run a Windows Update to ensure that all necessary updates have been applied.
