Feature Spotlight: Collaborative User as a Producer
Collaborative Users in Approval Manager not only have the capability to review proofs, they also have the ability to upload original files into a proof. The ability to upload proofs into the system is accomplished when the Manager of a proof makes the Collaborative User a member of the Production stage on the job, thus making them a Producer. This functionality means support for workflows where the proof originates from outside the group of internal users.

Q&A with Technical Support: Renaming a Find
How can a Virtual Ticket or Digital Storage Manager Find be renamed?
It may become necessary to change the name of a Global Find. Making this change can be accomplished in the File Cabinet window by selecting the desired Find and clicking the Rename button in the upper-right corner of the window. A dialog will appear, allowing the Administrator to rename the Find as well as change its category, reset its appearance and place the Find into a custom created menu in the Virtual Ticket application.

Smart Tip of the Month: Import your Cumulus Catalogs
Users of Digital Storage Manager and Virtual Ticket with DSM may wish to import their old Cumulus asset catalogs into their DSM or VTDSM system to avoid having to search the old system for their images. A feature pack available in the MetaCommunications Knowledge Base allows the administrator to take an exported Cumulus Record Exchange file containing the catalog information and import the information into the new DSM or VTDSM database. Imported information may include any number of metadata fields and digital resource thumbnails in JPEG format. The solution provides a sample Cumulus Record Exchange file to help the administrator test importing the information into the database.

Additional Resources: Lose the Extra Keyboards
Do you run multiple computers side-by-side, each with their own keyboard, mouse and monitor? Synergy, a software KVM, allows you to use one keyboard and mouse across multiple computer/monitor configurations. For example, suppose you have a PC and a Macintosh next to each other with their own keyboards, mice and monitors. By setting one of your computers up as a Synergy server and the other computer as a Synergy client, a single keyboard and mouse can be used to seamlessly switch between either system by dragging the mouse off the screen and onto the other desktop. Clipboard functionality works between both systems so you could copy text from a Word document on your PC and paste it into an Illustrator file on your Mac. Synergy is a freeware product.
