Feature Spotlight: Import and Export Finds

Virtual Ticket previously included the capability to export forms from one database and subsequently import those forms into another database. In this release of Workgroups 2007, the import/export functionality has been enhanced to include the ability to import and export finds, stored scripts, and stored solutions. This new functionality will allow administrators to build their entire system's structure and functionality in a test environment, completely export everything as one OSF file, and subsequently import this file into their production database. This provides a much more convenient workflow for customizing your system in your test environment and easily deploying your modifications to your production environment than was previously possible.

Q&A with Technical Support: Setting Group Permissions in Image Portal

How can I determine which Digital Resource fields a user can see in Image Portal?

The latest version of Image Portal includes support for group permissions that allow the administrator to control which fields can be seen by users when viewing a digital resource's properties. Since you can create multiple groups, and assign unique field visibility properties for each, you can easily provide granular control over what types of information your Image Portal users have access to. This includes fields such as file text contents, notes, customer information, and more.

Smart Tip of the Month: Automatically Create a Folder Structure

Most production art file systems have specific structures to them which allow users to easily locate the correct component of a specific job. For example, a typical job folder might include subfolders for Scans, PDFs, Layouts, Fonts and other important pieces of the job. Unless you have automated the creation of these folders, it can take time to manually set up the internal subfolder structure for each Job folder you create. The new Folder Helper Solution in the MetaCommunications Solutions Catalog allows the administrator to outline what the structure of a typical job folder should be, and to subsequently create that folder for any Job with the click of a button. Digital Storage Manager users have the capability to create their own folder structure by utilizing the New Job Folder form in the DSM client. This form allows users to create a job folder and specify a list of names for sub-folders within the job folder.
