Feature Spotlight

Inactive Users

New in Production Portal is the ability to make users inactive. Inactive users are users who are no longer employed or no longer using the system. To make a user inactive, simply open the user record in Users and Groups in the Administration tab of Production Portal. Click Edit and choose the Inactive radio button to make the user inactive. While any previous records created by these users can still be searched on and located in the system, an inactive user will no longer appear in the various user selection lists nor will they be able to log in to the system..

Q&A with Technical Support

What purpose does the collaborative appearance serve and how can it be set up?

The collaborative appearance of Approval Manager allows the Administrator to establish a branded look and feel unique for collaborative users logging in to Approval Manager. The Administrator can specify a custom logo, HTML-formatted text that appears on each page, and background and link colors... all of which are displayed only for collaborative users. To set up a collaborative appearance, choose the Collaborative Appearance link in the Administration tab of Production Portal. Once inside the Collaborative Appearance page, the various options for background, logo, colors, and text can be configured and saved.

Smart Tip of the Month

MetaScript Example - Display a Decimal field value as Currency

From time to time it may be necessary to display decimal field values as currency, complete with a dollar sign and commas. By using a simple MetaScript, decimal field value can be formatted to appear with the necessary dollar sign and commas in a separate variable field. Knowledge Base article 16173 provides an example form and MetaScript for formatting decimal field values as currency.

Setting up an SMTP Server

The ability to send email notifications from the Workgroups 2006 Suite requires an accessible SMTP server. If you email is hosted by a third party provider, the SMTP server may not allow sending email from Workgroups 2006. One workaround to this problem is to set up your own SMTP server for the purpose of sending these emails. The following documents describe how to set up your SMTP server.
