Feature Spotlight

Improved Compatibility with Citrix

A recent improvement in Job Manager and Virtual Ticket’s cache management will provide an easier method for implementing the two products in Citrix and Windows Terminal Server environments. Now, for each Windows’ login, Virtual Ticket and Job Manager record all cache information directly to the user’s Windows’ profile instead of to the Windows\MetaCommunications directory. This improvement provides systems administrator with a single point of application management.

Q&A with Technical Support

Can a sort in Virtual Ticket be set up based on different parts of a file name?

Yes. You can sort the results of finds based on the different components of a file name. By using InterSync and Associator you have the ability to separate a file name into its individual components. When displayed in a Find, the list of files can then be sorted based on these components. For example: Suppose you organize your newsletter PDFs with a special naming convention such as month and issue number. (Ex. Jan0123.PDF) You can use Associator to categorize the different components of the file name (month and volume number) as the files are scanned by InterSync. You can then use a Virtual Ticket Find to sort on all of the files with the same month or by issue number.

Smart Tip of the Month

Creating a Slideshow

A Virtual Ticket user was recently looking for a method to provide his Mac OS X users with a slideshow feature for files located in one of his Virtual Ticket file collector fields. This was accomplished using MetaScript and the AppleScript ability of a Mac OS X bundled application named Graphic Converter X. Using an AppleScript, it is easy to pass the paths of files in a Virtual Ticket file collector to Graphic Converter X for a nice slideshow of all of the files in the collector. Third Party Software

GraphicConverter X

In this month’s Smart Tip, we mentioned an application named GraphicConverter X, which is made by Lemke Software GmbH. GraphicConverter X is a shareware application with numerous features including: import and export capabilities for hundreds of file types, the ability to apply batch conversions, and perform batch functions to files such as, resize, rotate, etc. Another nice feature is GraphicConverter X’s AppleScript support, including the ability to rotate, resize, color correct and slideshow.

Some examples of this AppleScript support can be found here:
