Feature Spotlight
Illustrator CS/InDesign Support
Support for Adobe Illustrator CS and InDesign has been implemented into Virtual Ticket Production Pack 3.0 which is supported by the most recent version of Virtual Ticket 5.5. This support adds a new file type in Virtual Ticket 5.5 for InDesign, allowing for the generation of thumbnails, extended previews and extraction of metadata from InDesign 2.0/CS files.

Q&A with Technical Support
Are the Subtotal and Total fields on the Jobs Entry and Edit window stored in the database so they can be used in an Order Acknowledgement print form?
The subtotal and total fields found in the Job Entry and Edit window are calculated dynamically each time quantity and price values are changed and are not saved in the database. A MetaScript can be used in a print form such as an order acknowledgement to calculate the total of the items included in the Job Entry and Edit window from Job Manager.

Smart Tip of the Month
Populating Fields Based on a Popup Menu Selection
You may have a need to review a list of customer contacts and include an individual contact’s information on a job form in Virtual Ticket. By choosing the contact, you wish to display the other pertinent information about the contact, such as the address, city, state, zip and phone number information. The example provided in Knowledge Base article 16165 contains both the customer contact document type form for entering your customer contacts, plus an example job form which retrieves the customer contact information.

Third Party Software
WinRAR
WinRAR is a Windows archiving software similar to WinZip which advertises the ability to compress files 8 to 15 percent more than the ZIP format. This $29 software from RARLabs.com gets significant use at MetaCommunications due to its ease of use when creating self-extracting archives and its ability to maintain the integrity of NTFS data streams, which store Macintosh file resource forks.
