Q&A with Technical Support

How can I set the sort order of a column in a Virtual Ticket grid field?

Setting the sort order of a Virtual Ticket grid column provides the ability to display the grid information in user-determined manner. Sort order can be set for a grid field column by using the forms editor of Virtual Ticket Administrator. To set the sort order, perform the following steps:

  1. Log in to Virtual Ticket Administrator and open the desired form in the forms editor.
  2. Select the Cursor tool from the tool bar.
  3. While pressing the command key on the keyboard, click into the column which you wish to set a sorting order. This will sort the contents of the grid in an ascending order.
  4. (Optional) If you wish to sort in a descending order, press the command and option keys while clicking into the desired column.

Smart Tip of the Month

Numbering Sequence

MetaScript can be used to create your own numbering sequence for attached document type records in Virtual Ticket. This sequence can be helpful in situations where you need to serialize a document type. For example, suppose you attach multiple change orders to your jobs and they need to be identified uniquely. A simple MetaScript can be used to auto-increment a change order number.
