New Feature Spotlight
Quick Jump in Notification Setup
Save time when creating notifications by using the new quick jump feature in Virtual Ticket 4.0. When creating automatic notifications in the Events and Actions window of Virtual Ticket Administrator 4.0, jump to the name of a user by typing the first letter of the person’s name. You may use the same action when generating manual notifications in the Send Notifications dialog window of Virtual Ticket 4.0.
Control Button Functionality
Now it’s even easier to work with Digital Resources in the Macintosh version of Virtual Ticket 4.0 by using new Control button functionality. Press the Control button on your keyboard and click on a digital resource in a Virtual Ticket 4.0 file collector window. A menu will appear, giving a quick list of options. By holding down the Control button, selecting a file and choosing Reveal in Finder from this menu, you can display the file in the Macintosh Finder - making it easy to locate files you need to work with. Pressing the Control button while double-clicking an image in a Virtual Ticket 4.0 file collector will automatically open the file in the native application (ie, QuarkXpress, Adobe Illustrator).
Smart Tip of the Month
Archive Using Move
The Move function in Virtual Ticket 4.0 allows you to move a selected group of files/folders from one location to another. This is especially helpful in situations where InterSync is monitoring the volume where your files reside, and you archive to a location not watched by InterSync. In this situation, moving files manually (through the operating system) would cause InterSync to delete and re-add the files in the database. Using the Move process in Virtual Ticket 4.0 will prevent InterSync from deleting the files from the database. To use the Move functionality:
- Display the files/folders to be moved in a file collector window. Drag and drop the files/folders on a file collector and choose Lookup from the dialog window. This will display the files as they exist in the database.
- Choose Move from File Tool menu.
- Select the new location of the files/folders. Virtual Ticket will then move the files to the new location and update the file path information.
Q&A with MetaSupport
Q: How can I give a user the ability to search all files in Virtual Ticket WebServer without granting him Administrator privileges?
A: Enter an asterisk (*) for the customer code when setting up or editing a user. This will give the user access to all files available in Virtual Ticket WebServer.
Q: How are thumbnails created for files that are added to the system through delayed thumbnailing?
A: There are two ways this happens, depending on your version of Virtual Ticket:
- In Virtual Ticket 4.0 systems with InterSync installed and configured on the server, InterSync will quickly produce delayed thumbnails in the database.
- In Virtual Ticket 3.0 systems, the Thumbnailing Server feature can be used to generate delayed thumbnails. Thumbnailing Server is enabled by logging into Virtual Ticket as the Administrator and selecting Thumbnailing Server from the Tools menu.
